An Overview of My Family Law Practice at the Drummer Law Office
At the office of attorney Mary E. Drummer, I have focused my practice exclusively on family law and divorce for over 14 years. I understand the emotional challenges that come with divorce and work hard to provide compassionate, yet assertive counsel throughout the process. My first priority is always your needs and the needs of your family.
I offer a free initial consultation to all clients. To schedule an appointment, send me an e-mail or call my office at 952-236-1783 (toll-free at 888-578-5613).
Divorce
I handle all matters related to or arising out of divorce, from the division of marital assets to the determination of child support, from custody and parenting time agreements to alimony or spousal maintenance. I work with men and women at all stages of a divorce, from the initial filing through mediation or trial to motions for enforcement or modification of existing orders. See my page on divorce to learn more.
Child Custody and Support
I will help you establish and implement child custody and visitation arrangements that are in the best interests of your children while protecting your rights as a parent. I will review all proposed child support orders for compliance with Minnesota law and to verify that all income is included. I will also help you determine whether alimony is necessary and, if so, the amount, frequency and duration of payments. For more information, see my page on child custody and support.
Post-Judgment Modifications and Enforcement Actions
If your divorce is final, but your circumstances have changed, or your ex is not complying with the terms of your divorce judgment, I will help you petition the court to modify or enforce the existing order. To learn more, go to my page on modifications and enforcement.
I also handle:
- Paternity actions
- Separation agreements
- Prenuptial agreements
-
Family law appeals
Appellate Representation
An initial unfavorable verdict isn't the end of the road; you have options. I handle appellate representation both in cases where I was your original attorney and in cases where another attorney handled your original case. I have handled appeals involving many issues, including child custody, maintenance, property division, and modification issues. It is important to note that appeals have strict time limits so it is very important to contact an attorney as soon as possible about a possible appeal. A few examples of my appellate cases can be found here:

Gottesleben v. Gottesleben, 2009 WL 2595944 (Minn.App., August 25, 2009)
